Today we will talk a little about heating and automating heating in your home. You probably recognize the challenge every heating system has in keeping your temperature at your desired level at any given time while you also want to save energy and be energy efficient.
Just think back to when you got up in the morning and the outside temperature had dropped far more than you could envisage – the kitchen, living-room and bathroom having been much colder than you would have wanted. And if it not, you may have spent a great deal of money in keeping your home very warm throughout the whole night.
What if you could gain from maximum energy saving at any given time day and night and still get the comfort with appropriate temperature at the same time?
You see, in the HomeControl system we have integrated some cool integrations and very advanced logarithms. In fact, your Smart home can receive temperature from more than 7 million places around the world and you can use them to optimize your already existing heating devices in your home.
We will take an example from an electrical heater (because we use a lot of electrical heaters in Norway), but this software even works for other types of radiators, heating pumps, air-conditioning and for many more applications. Let us explain how it works.
Step 1: When you sign up and register in the app, you add your postal code
Step2: You add a device for heating (eg. The smart outlet, select heating for the outputs)
Step 3: In the heating part of the app select your comfort level and what your saving level is to be. Swipe over to time schedule and select at what time you want comfort and saving (saving at night and at work are the most common).
Now, let the magic begin!
What happens now is that during the next 10 days the system collects data from the weather stations near your home (based on your postal code) and the app starts heating or cooling close to the selected time you have set in the app. Do not be afraid if it is not 100% accurate on temperature and time the first couple of days, it is in a learning mode. The algorithm calculates now how long it takes to heat up or cool down each and every room – based on the outside temperature.
When the calculating is done you suddenly have a Learning Home, just within 3 steps. Cool? We think so and hope these tips and tricks are helpful. Please pass on any comment so that we may help you or add on even more and cooler functionality.
